Hello! My version (called De Luxe edition) has the optional cards from 104 to 110.
What do you think of these cards? Why are they optional?

Hi Crazyaxe.

In answer to your question, the 'optional cards' are cards introduced by the designer to the card deck after the previous release. They are one of a few changes to the game from the original edition of Twilight Struggle. For new players who discovered the game through the deluxe edition, you don't have to think too much about the 'optional' cards. They are commonly used in most current games, and old-fashioned games that don't use the optional cards are rather few and far between.  Their addition was intended to tweak play balance (to give both sides unique advantages/opportunities to win) and most players agree they did a fine job at doing so. If you would like specific details on each card, Theory has reviewed all of them on the main site. The notes on the cards are worth reading if you haven't already.

Hope this answers your question and enjoy the game.
