Both myself and my usual opponent for TS are very fond of a tiny little Mid War card called: ABM Treaty.

This card is extremely versatile and powerful, allows using ops in the headline phase, opens up any battleground for a 4 Ops coup attempt... the possibilities are endless.

Drawing this card is like Christmas and your birthday at the same time.

I agree that I smart play of 5yp can be game changing and it's great that not only can it be used by both sides it's even more interesting for the USSR as it can turn from a potential huge VP saving play to a suicide card.

It has many uses but most obviously it allows the USSR to dump a bad scoring card. I love letting my US opponent spend lots of OPs to secure Asia on turn 3 only for me 5 year plan it and not see it show up again until turn 7 or maybe even not at all. Meanwhile I've been using my Ops to slowly take over the Middle East and the Mid War regions.

It also allows the US turn 3 DEFCON win trick by forcing the USSR to play CIA so you can coup a Fidel occupied Cuba or a country played into with Destal or Decol.

As a general hand size reducer it makes a decent headline for the US if they don't have anything better. It can also be good to try and force a US event you know the USSR has in their hand and plans on spacing or holding onto.

All around a great card that is very useful but not over powered.
