Hi can people give me correct or incorrect on the way we are playing:

a) there is no such thing as a '6' auto winning any roll, e.g an Arab-iraeli war at -3
b) missle envy cannot be used to take the china card
c) man in earth orbit means you are looking at your opponents headline every turn until they catch up
d) you place influence first then deal your hand (star of game)

a) right -- some wars are impossible to win
b) right -- China Card can be taken only with events that explicitly target China Card
c) I guess it's already Man in Space, and this is right -- the effect lasts until opponent reaches the step connected with the effect
d) USSR places first, then USA reacts to USSR's placement, then both sides choose their turn 1 headlines

Right. This allows you to see your hand and adjust accordingly. Most frequently, if you have Blockade and want to leave West Germany open, or have Marshall Plan and want to add one in Turkey and Greece.

As for the China Card, to expand it further, the China Card cannot be used on other events that call on a player to discard, like Five Year Plan, Blockade, Bear Trap/Quagmire, Aldrich Ames, etc.

Usually not relevant, but you are allowed to send the China Card to space (Your opponent still gets it face down). The only times when I might do this are:
1. attempting to get VPs for an autowin, instead of playing a bad scoring card and/or DEFCON suicide card
2. Attempting to stop my opponent from getting an autowin through the space race, by getting points first.
2. As the Soviets, trying to deactivate Star Wars,

Okay so some more questions i didn't think deserved their own thread

Grain sales to soviets - when looking at opponents hand, is it only the event that can be played? Or can the US player treat it like a normal card and use the ops if US? Or both if USSR?

I assume a 'free coup' still affects the defcon level if you do it on a battleground?

Got answer to that from site

You don't look at your opponent's hand, you choose one randomly.

It can be played for ops (including spacing) or the event as any other card.
