Hi everybody,

Since I noticed that there are still quite some people not aware of the possibilities offered to play Twilight Struggle on a competitive level, I decided to make a complete overview of the known events. If any of you organize local events and are looking for participants (or if I forgot a major event), please post them in this thread to give them the chance to register and participate.

Face-to-face events

World Boardgaming Championships (WBC): this is an annual event held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, organized by the Boardgame Players Association. It offers loads of tournaments, including Twilight Struggle. Most top players from the USA and Canada visit this convention, but there are also some European players coming over sometimes (Riku Riekkinen from Finland for example, who grabbed the title as well ;-)). Next date: July 29 - August 4,2013 (pre-cons on July 27-28). For more information: http://www.boardgamers.org/

Winter Activation Meeting (WAM): this is a somewhat smaller event to give wargamers the possibility to meet up in winter as well. The tournament is annually held in Timonium, Maryland and is run by Keith Wixson. Next date (probably, not published yet): January 23-26,2014. For more information: http://www.boardgamers.org/specific/wam13.htm

TS Convention: a big name for a rather small Twilight Struggle tournament so far. It's annually held in De Clercqstraat 136 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and run by DaniŽl Hogetoorn (me). Swiss system is used and the variant played is optional cards and bidding (no CCW). Registering possible by private BGG message or sending an email. Next date: May 2-3,2014 (if more than 20 participants I'll move this to May 3-4,2014). For more information: http://unitedfriendseu.wordpress.com/ts-convention/

Play by eMail/ACTS events

TS Ladder: very nice continuous event, very well run by Ron Jacobsen. With 116 active participants, it's the largest TS competition right now. It's played through ACTS and Ron tries to complete rounds in 2 or 3 months. Current default rules: Deluxe without optional cards, US +3 additional IP (no CCW). Online realtime play events

ITSL (Wargameroom League): largest online TS league worldwide so far with 62 participants in the just started 2013 season. Very well run by Bruce Wigdor. All matches are being played using the Wargameroom program. Registering as a replacement or for next season possible. Current default rules: optional cards, US +2 additional IP (no CCW). For more information: http://wargameroom.com/itsl.htm

ETSL Ladder: online TS Ladder (it was a normal league in seasons 1 and 2), created for European players, but also open to any other nationality when adapting to European playing times. The Ladder will be run by DaniŽl Hogetoorn (me). The next season will start in October,2013. From then on players can join whenever they want (monthly rounds). All matches are being played using the Wargameroom program. Registering possible by private message or sending an email. For more information: http://unitedfriendseu.wordpress.com/european-twilight-strug...

Online TS World Championships (TS WC): annual online championship, played using the Wargameroom program, run by DaniŽl Hogetoorn (me). The tournament is open to everybody, but be aware that playing times will be from 12pm until 9.30pm GMT. Swiss system is used and the variant played is optional cards and bidding. Next date: May 17-18,2014. Registering possible by private message or sending an email. For more information: http://unitedfriendseu.wordpress.com/ts-wc/

If you have any questions or need help to contact somebody, don't hesitate and ask me!

Cheers,
DaniŽl.
